Staglands Wildlife Reserve & Cafe

December 1, 2009

The summer holidays are when everyone heads for the outdoors. It’s when family and friends get together and have some fun in the sun. It’s barbecue weather and it’s time to don your togs.

You can do all of this at Staglands – it’s a real hidden treasure in the Akatarawa Valley. It has heaps to see and do and one of the great things about Staglands is that you can bring a picnic, have a barbecue, go for a swim (if it’s warm enough!), feed the animals, ride the donkey cart and really make a day of it.

There are plenty of New Zealand native animals to see, as well as lots of unusual and exotic animals for all ages to interact with. The kea can be cheeky and the kune kune pigs are real characters. Play with the Guinea pigs and see if you can find the turtles in The Secret Garden.

Or, you can always relax in Staglands’ stunning log building café while the kids burn off some energy.

Staglands is open from 10am every day.
