Mr Lam Sam’s Musical Mayhem Show

Come along to an hour of interactive musical fun with kids’ entertainer Chris Lam Sam – songs, games, giveaways, storytelling, and plenty of laughs.

Kids’ Theatre: Wilfred Gordon McDonald Partridge

This enchanting play blends puppetry and live performance to tell Mem Fox’s story about a young boy and his elderly friend.

See the magical story of a little figure who turns newspapers into a universe of paper objects. Told through mime, puppets, and music.

Workshop and Show: Ukulele Rock Star

Age 5-10
Kids – have a go at playing the ukulele, then get on stage and rock out with your band mates! No experience needed.
10.30am–11.15am: Learn to strum and sing along to favourite ukulele tunes.
11.30am–12pm: Morph into a true ukulele rock star, and perform on the stage at Te Marae.
Bring your own ukulele. Some are also supplied on the day – first in, first served.

Magic with Zappo

Zappo the Magician invites you to an exciting performance filled with songs, stories, puppetry, and astonishing tricks.

Balloon Workshop with Zappo

RNZB at Te Papa

Spend the day behind the scenes with New Zealand’s national ballet company. See costumes and pointe shoes up close, watch the full company in class at the Soundings Theatre, and observe a working rehearsal with Francesco Ventriglia for The Ryman Healthcare Season of Romeo and Juliet.

Maker Day

Come explore our Creation Stations – put together an animated movie, zoom around the world using virtual reality, and create astonishing inventions, from artbots to singing pens.

Smart Art: Claymation

Create a clay figure decorated with beads, leaves, or whatever you fancy! Then use the magic of stop-motion animation to bring it and other objects to life.

Flying Machines

Age 6-12
Create your own fantastic flying fleet! Craft a kite, make an army of paper helicopters, jump in a virtual cockpit, and build and crash a Lego drone.
