Swim safer

With recent tragic drownings in New Zealand, it’s a good time to think about swimming lessons for your child.

Being able to swim well is one of the greatest gifts that can be bestowed upon a child.
Siria Thomas and Swim Australia have launched the Swim Safer Layers of Protection message across Australasia. It is hoped that these layers will raise awareness on drowning prevention and save lives.

The layers are:
•
Adult supervision
•
Provide barriers
•
Swimming lessons and water safety skills
•
Emergency action planning

Contact Sue at Swim FX for quality lessons that get results.

SwimMagic – keeping your family safe in the water this summer

Beaches, lakes and swimming pools are a big part of any good kiwi holiday.

However, it is critical that all of New Zealand’s youngest generation gain understanding and receive key aquatic skills and knowledge that will see them safe in, on and around the water this summer.
A sound understanding of how water works, how to be comfortable in the water, and what to do should you find yourself “out of your depth” are key principles that any good swimming and water-safety programme must include.

The team at SwimMagic has developed a programme that teaches these principles to more than 50,000 New Zealand children each year at its 15 aquatic facilities.

SwimMagic is a top New Zealand swimming education provider. SwimMagic teams are waiting with anticipation to get you, your family’s, and the local community’s swimming on the right track.

Golf for all at Russley

Russley is one of New Zealand’s best known golf courses but it is strongly rooted in the local community around it.

This is reflected in two outstanding programmes the club offers:

1. Come and Learn programme.

This programme introduces novice adult players into the game through a structured regime with 10 one-hour lessons over 10 weeks. Lessons are taken by one of Russley’s first-class teaching professionals and group numbers are kept to a maximum of eight.

At each lesson’s conclusion, participants are hosted in the clubhouse with coffee and scones, where the professional provides summary lesson notes and practice procedures to follow.

After 10 weeks, a second programme is undertaken whereby the professional takes players onto to the course to teach them to apply their newly acquired skills as they play the game.

2. Junior golf.

Every Sunday morning many junior players are coached on the game’s essentials.

Players are divided into categories according to their current abilities and after coaching they are taken onto the course to play.

Once a month, a nine hole ambrose competition is held with prize giving and food and drink in the clubhouse.

Russley’s junior programme has been an outstanding success over the years and the club presently has more than 170 junior members.

Kids’ Sports Club

Kids Sports Club’s Soccer4Tots, launched in Auckland in 2008, has rapidly become New Zealand’s leading ball skills programme for two to five-year-old kiwi kids.

Now for the first time, it’s available here in Christchurch.

Soccer4Tots is a high energy, structured play programme that offers boys and girls a variety of enjoyable, challenging ball games, activities and simple soccer skills.

Children are given the opportunity at an early age to develop confidence and concentration skills in a fun and encouraging environment. Your child will improve in key areas such as hand-eye and foot co-ordination, balance and agility, along with gross motor skill development such as catching, throwing and kicking.

The Soccer4Tots programme allows kids to learn invaluable life skills that assist with everyday activities such as day care, school and team-based sports. Sharing, taking turns, following instructions and teamwork are all conscientiously encouraged within the programme.

As all sessions are held indoors, your child’s development is not weather dependant. They get to have fun all year round!

Soccer4Tots is available in three Christchurch locations.  Book now for term four. Phone 03-974-3164.
